The thylacine was last survivor of diverse family of carnivorous marsupials. It was the victim of one mans most atrocious acts of destruction in Australia. Out of misunderstanding and fear it was thought to be a threat to the economy in the 19th and 20th century thousands of thylacines were destroyed by man. By the time the action was seen the thylacine had been persecuted and nearly extinct.
The Australian continent is home to over one million species of animals many are endangered. While we know of many extinct animals there is one example that reminds us that life is fragile and that extinct means forever, I’ am talking about the thylacine a marsupial carnivore that was wiped out of existence in the 1930s.
I believe thylacines existed because before the 1930s they roamed around Australia. There were thousands of them before people started thinking they were doing harm to the animals and the people, so they decided to hunt and kill them.
