Mothman - Cassandra - Fifth Hour

Half human, half moth? That sounds crazy to me. Many people believe in West Virginia lives a “mothman”. Everyone has their own beliefs on whether it exists or not. I for one don’t think it’s real because I just don’t believe there’s anyone who’s half insect half human.

The first events connected to the Mothman first started on November 12, 1966 near Clendenin, West Virginia. Five men were in the local cemetery that day, preparing a grave for a burial, when something that looked like a giant brown human being lifted off from some nearby trees and flew over their heads. They didn’t think it looked like a bird, more like a man with wings. After that people all around that region claimed to see the same brown being. Another sighting occurred in the early 1960’s when a woman was traveling down the road with her father at night when a large man shaped figure walked out into the road, the woman slowed her car and the large figure spread its wings and flew off into the night.

There have been some crazy, outrageous stories about Mothman. There’s a story about a family who were traveling down a dirt road near an abandoned TNT plant when they saw a large red light appear behind one of the buildings, they sped off into the night in fear. When they reached their destination the mother of the family got out of the car to get her sleeping daughter when she saw a large moth looking human figure with wings folded down onto its back rise from behind their car. She stood in fear and was in a spell. Everyone else ran into the house and called the police, the mother joined them shortly after. They all looked out the window to see the figure making its way onto the porch. After that sighting which made newspaper headlines many people claimed to see the same Moth looking being.

After all the research I did, I still don’t think the Mothman is real. People can put something in their mind and believe it. No matter how ridiculous it may be. For people who believe in paranormal stuff this is probably totally believable! For me, it’s not.
